Motec Paint Protection Film(PPF)
More and more car owners are choosing to apply a layer of Paint Protection Film (PPF) to their cars after buying a new one. However, nowadays, PPF brands are not only numerous, but their price positioning is also diverse. Before making a purchase, have you thought about these questions again?
How to choose PPF?
In short, three words! Pull, smell, ignite
1、Pull
Firstly, the quality of PPF can be judged by its tactile sensation. High quality PPF is soft and has excellent ductility, which can be freely displayed in an ideal state according to the vehicle body. Repeated pulling and pulling can still restore it to its original state, while poor PPF ductility is not as good.
2、Smell
Secondly, it can be judged by smell. As excellent TPU and pressure-sensitive adhesive have a light taste, smelling strong and pungent chemical substances may indicate that the substrate is relatively inferior and may have side effects in the later stage.
3、Burning
Finally, it can be judged based on the combustion reaction to see if PPF has black smoke and unpleasant chemical burnt smell. High quality PPF will not produce black smoke and odor after combustion.
What are the materials of PPF?
1、 PVC
🔸 Advantages: The material is hard and has good impact resistance; Low price
🔸 Disadvantage: Unable to achieve edge wrapping; Glue shedding; Unable to resist scratches; Short service life, appearance of yellowing, orange peel, cracking, blackening and other symptoms within one year; Unable to recycle and reuse, polluting the environment
2、 TPH
TPH is a material made by adding plasticizers to PVC, and the TPH material is semi transparent with a hint of light yellow.
🔸 Advantages: Yellow resistance and overall better flexibility than PVC
🔸 Disadvantages: The service life of TPH is about two to three years, and TPH may exhibit brittle characteristics during use, with relatively weak protection ability. The selected adhesive layer is easy to peel off, which may cause offset printing on the paint surface
3、 TPU
Nowadays, PPF on the market is mostly made of this material, which can repair scratches, resist scratches, punctures, etc., but the price is relatively high
🔸 Advantages: Wear resistance, good elasticity, oil resistance, chemical resistance and other properties, green and environmentally friendly
🔸 Disadvantages: The production process is complex; Low yield rate; High manufacturing costs
What are the construction steps of PPF?
1. Exquisite car wash
Every inch of the car's skin, whether it's stubborn dirt, hidden impurities, or residual wax, must be thoroughly removed, not even the edges and corners.
2. Tailored to fit
Every cut must be just right, ensuring that the PPF matches perfectly with every curve and corner of the car body. It's like customizing an exclusive "fashion jacket" for your beloved car.
3. Soft fit
The master evenly sprayed installation fluid on the car body, and then gently laid the PPF on it. Then, the masters will use professional tools to gradually attach the PPF to the car body, scraping away any bubbles and moisture inside, so that there is no gap between the PPF and the car body.
4. Perfect edge trimming
What about the excess PPF? don't worry! The masters will use edge closing magic to cut them off and then make the edges smooth and comfortable.
5. Detailed acceptance
Finally, there is a meticulous inspection and acceptance process. Like detectives, the masters will carefully inspect the car several times, not missing any small details, to ensure that the car clothes are perfectly attached.
After a series of magical operations, your car has successfully donned a layer of invisible and sturdy armor, ready to face every challenge in the future!
